About this concert:
Praised for her “beauty of sound” in Seen and Heard International, British trumpeter and BBC Young Musician Finalist 2014, Matilda Lloyd joins forces with David Bednall to serenade you with this programme of music for trumpet and organ. Alongside classic Baroque works by Martini, Purcell and Charpentier, the duo will present a series of romantic works, including songs by Franz Schubert and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Highlights of the programme include a brand-new arrangement for trumpet and organ of J.S. Bach’s monumental Toccata and Fugue in D minor and an organ transcription of Mussorgsky’s “The Great Gate of Kyiv” from his Pictures at an Exhibition.
